  •  Do you have any recommendations on how to water my lawn?

The majority of turf in Middle Georgia needs roughly one inch of water each week while it’s actively growing. However, the amount and frequency of irrigation depends on several factors including species of turf, type of soil, weather, and amount of maintenance. We encourage you to ask us directly for specific recommendations based on your lawn.

The best time to water your lawn is after sunset and before sunrise.

  •  What are proper mowing techniques?

Be sure to cut your lawn at the recommended height for that specific species. In order to prevent scalping, it’s important to mow often enough that no more than 1/3 of the leaf is removed at a time. For example, if the grass should be cut to 2 inches, mowing it when it reaches 3 inches would be best. If possible, leave clippings on the turf and allow them to naturally decompose and blend back into the soil. During periods of drought or excessive heat, it’s generally wise to raise the mowing height.

  •  If it rains immediately after an application, will that negatively affect my lawn treatment?

No, even a heavy rain immediately after an application shouldn’t reverse the effects of the treatment. However, if you’re worried that the treatment was ineffective, check your turf in two weeks to see if the problem still exists. If it does, we would be happy to come back and retreat your lawn for free.

  •  How can I prevent weeds like crabgrass from growing in my lawn?

Preemergence needs to be used before the weeds germinate. In our Weed Control and Fertilization Program, applications one and two are performed just before spring greenup and focus on preventing weeds from growing in your lawn with a preemergence herbicide.

  •  What is the purpose of your year-long lawn care program?

We offer a one-year lawn care program consisting of seven applications that focuses on fertilization, weed control, and pre-emergence to give your lawn all the necessary nutrients it needs in order to stay clean and healthy.

  •  Is your fire ants treatment guaranteed?

Yes, we guarantee our fire ants treatment for one year. If you have any issues with fire ants after we have treated, we will gladly perform another treatment for free during that year.

  •  Which insecticide do you use for fire ants?

At Mid Georgia Turf Solutions, we use Topchoice, backed by Bayer, which is the number one insecticide for ridding your yard of dangerous fire ants. One application controls existing colonies and prevents new infestations of fire ants. Applied only by professionals, Topchoice is formulated specifically for broadcast application with commercial spreaders.

  •  Which insects and diseases do you prevent and control?

We can treat your lawn for all types of insects and diseases present in Middle Georgia. A few of the most common insects include chinch bugs, spittlebugs, mole crickets, grubs, and fall armyworms. Generally, the diseases we see most often include brown patch, large patch, gray leaf spot, leaf spot, and spring dead spot.

  •  What is core aeration?

Core aeration utilizes a hollow tine to remove a chunk of soil roughly two to four inches deep and about one half inch in diameter. In the empty space created by aeration, oxygen, water, and nutrients can freely flow and plant roots have room to develop and grow.

  •  Do you offer pH testing of soil?

Yes. At Mid Georgia Turf Solutions, we will take a sample of your soil and send it to the University of Georgia for pH testing. If your soil’s pH level is below 6.0, we can provide a lime application to raise the pH level.

  •  What types of grasses does Mid Georgia Turf Solution offer services for?

We offer lawn care services for all types of grasses existing in Middle Georgia including centipede, St. Augustine, Bermuda, zoysia, fescue, and more.
